Data 3.3 Creating a Branching Database with Powerpoint

Lesson 3.3 Creating a Branching Database

Aim: To use Microsoft Powerpoint to create your own Branching Database.

A branching database (sometimes called a binary tree) is a way of classifying a group of objects. It could be used, for example, to classify animals, musical instruments, sports or fruit.

Be Inspired:
Here is an example of a branching database made by Mrs. Klein:

Check It Out:
Follow each of the steps to create your own Branching Database:

Do Your Best:
Can you start to make your own branching database? Once you have completed the title page you will need to insert a new slide and begin to insert the four images of the animals you are going to sort.

Remember to think ahead to the questions you will be asking to sort the animals (NB the game of twenty questions we played in a previous lesson).

Is it a vertebrate?
Is it a carnivore?
Does it live in the ocean?

Extension Task:
For those of you who are ready for an extra challenge you can start to insert additional slides with the questions you are going to ask.

Finally Fun!
If you have finished your work for today, you can head on over to your coding or keyboarding courses.
