CODE 1.1 Buttons

Lesson 1.1 Buttons
Aim:
To learn how to control a Beebot by pressing the buttons. To learn how to use the ‘clear memory’ and ‘run program’ buttons.

Be Inspired:
These are all different types of robot.
What do we use robots for?
Why do robots do what they do?

Check It Out:
Robots are machines that can do tasks (robots can be specialised or multipurpose). Robots complete their tasks because they have been programmed to do so by humans: that is, we tell the robots what to do.

Let's explore using the Beebots. How do we program a Beebot? What do you think the different buttons do?

Check it out:

Do Your Best:
Have a go at either programming the "real-life" Beebot with a partner OR using the online Beebot.

Click on the picture below to use the online Beebot.

Remember to use the Clear (X) button to clear your Beebot's memory.

Extension:
Can you code your Beebot to spell a word?

Finally!
Why are the Go and Clear (X) buttons important? Highlight that the Go button makes the robot start its program. The Clear (X) button clears the robot’s memory so that it forgets any instructions/buttons that were pressed before.

Note: Turning the robot off and on again also clears the memory.
