Lesson 2.3: Things Spread Quickly Online
Aim:
Today we are going to investigate how information can spread very quickly and widely online even when sent privately.
We will think about the advantages and disadvantages of sharing online.
Be Inspired!
Maya shares a video with one friend privately. She is shocked at how quickly her video gets shared with other people online. Has this ever happened to you?
Check it out:
Take care before you share. Can you think about what you enjoy sharing online with your friends? Is it OK to share all these things? What should you not share online? Why not?
Do:
Today Mrs. Klein would like you to respond to the following questions that she has sent you via your Office 365 E-mail accounts (Outlook):
1. Can you tell me three advantages (good things) about sharing online?
2. Can you tell me three disadvantages (bad things) about sharing online?
During the lesson Mrs. Klein is also going to E-mail the photo below to one student only. This student then needs to forward the photo on to another student who will also share the photo.
The idea is that as many of us as possible share the photo during the lesson. This is so we can see how quickly things can be shared online. At the end of the lesson we will count up how many students saw the photo.
